Vinyl privacy fence in Toledo runs $45 to $75 per foot installed, materials and labor together.
It is the most expensive of the common privacy options here. Treated wood privacy runs $25 to $35 a foot, so on a normal back yard vinyl roughly doubles the bill.
Worked examples
Vinyl privacy at $45 to $75 a foot, no gates, no removal of an old fence.
| Length | Low | High |
|---|---|---|
| 100 feet | $4,500 | $7,500 |
| 150 feet | $6,750 | $11,250 |
| 200 feet | $9,000 | $15,000 |
A fuller job. 150 feet of vinyl with one walk gate, and an old fence hauled away:
- Fence, 150 feet at $45 to $75: $6,750 to $11,250
- One walk gate at $200 to $600: $200 to $600
- Tear out and haul away 150 feet at $5 to $10 a foot: $750 to $1,500
- Total: about $7,700 to $13,350
The rest of Ohio sits lower
The Toledo band is at the top of the Ohio range, so collect a second and third quote before you sign.
- Around Toledo you will also see $35 to $55 a foot or more.
- Near Columbus, vinyl privacy runs $35 to $70 a foot.
- Elsewhere in central Ohio it runs $30 to $60 a foot installed, with premium styles at $45 to $60.
- National averages go lower still, at $15 to $40 a foot installed. Do not expect an Ohio quote to get there.
One number to ignore. A cost website lists Toledo vinyl at $25 to $31 a foot, but that page is from 2022 and it prices a 4 foot fence. It is not a 6 foot privacy fence.
What the materials alone cost
This is worth knowing, because it explains why vinyl quotes look the way they do.
A 6 foot by 8 foot white vinyl privacy panel lists at about $99. The 5 inch by 5 inch by 9 foot post it slots into lists at about $41, and a cap for the top of each post is another $4 to $8. Posts are never included with a panel. A whole 96 foot material list comes to about $1,955, which works out near $20 a foot in materials before anyone digs a hole.
Those are retail list prices, so treat them as the shape of the cost rather than a quote. The point stands either way. Vinyl material runs several times what treated pine costs, and the installed price has to carry it.
Why vinyl is less forgiving to install
Vinyl panels do not screw to the face of a post. The posts arrive with slots already cut through them, and the top and bottom rails of the panel push into those slots so the panel is held captive between two posts.
That means the posts have to be concreted in at exactly the right spacing before the panel goes in, and the run cannot be nudged afterwards. On a straight, flat, easy yard that is quick work. On a slope or around obstacles it takes planning, and that is where the labor part of the price comes from.
What moves the price
Gates. A walk gate runs $200 to $600 and a double drive gate $600 to $2,500. A ready made 6 foot by 4 foot vinyl gate panel lists at about $214 as a material line, before posts, hardware and labor.
Removal of the old fence. $5 to $10 a foot in Toledo.
Height. Toledo allows 6 feet along the side and rear and 3.5 feet in a front yard. Over 6 feet you need a building permit and a plan review.
Grade. Sloped and rocky ground slows any fence crew down, and vinyl gives less room to adapt than wood does.
Color and style. Premium styles cost more: think $45 to $60 a foot against $30 to $60 for standard.
Sales tax
Under Ohio Administrative Code 5703-9-14, a contractor who buys materials that get built into your property is the consumer of those materials. He pays the sales tax at the register and does not add tax to your invoice. Expect a single lump sum with no tax line.
The number that counts
On vinyl, $45 to $75 a foot is the anchor, the lower Ohio bands are the reason to shop around, and a written quote for your own yard is the only number that counts.

Questions people ask
How much is a 150 foot vinyl fence in Toledo?
About $6,750 to $11,250 installed at $45 to $75 a foot. Elsewhere in Ohio it runs $30 to $70, so it is worth getting more than one quote.
Why is vinyl so much more than wood?
The material costs more before anyone picks up a tool. A single 6 by 8 vinyl panel lists around $99 and each post around $41, while the whole installed price for treated wood privacy in Toledo is $25 to $35 a foot.
Is vinyl cheaper in the long run?
We have no local figure for that, so we will not claim it. What we can say is that vinyl is not stained or sealed the way wood is, and the upfront price is higher.
Can vinyl be installed on a slope?
Ask the installer. Vinyl panels seat into slots routed in the posts, so the posts have to be set at exact spacing and the run cannot be adjusted afterwards. Slopes are usually stepped.
Do I need a permit for a vinyl fence in Toledo?
Yes. Any fence in the City of Toledo needs a $50 Certificate of Zoning Compliance, whatever it is made of.
